Transforming Boston Bodies Since 1989
Our Team
Zayna Gold, Program Director
Kathryn West, Education Coordinator
Kathryn has an extensive dance background and has been choreographing for many years. Her love of movement and curiosity of Pilates is what brought her to the Boston Body studio. “My first time on the Reformer changed my life. I could not believe how amazing my body felt after my first class. I came back day after day and knew by the end of the week I wanted to be an instructor, and began Zayna’s Teacher Training Program immediately. “After years of dancing, cheerleading, kickboxing and the treadmill, I needed to find a form of exercise that was a little less on my joints, but fulfilled my passion for movement and the mind body connection, Pilates has done this for me. There are so many hidden gifts in this wonderful form of movement, and I look forward everyday in helping my clients discover their own”.
Kathryn is certified by Balanced Body University and Power Pilates. She is also the Education Coordinator for Boston Body’s certification center.
Barbara Dawson
I began my journey with Pilates in Chicago in 1995. My love for movement is what initially sparked my interest. From Pilates, spinning and nutritional studies, leading a healthy lifestyle in mind, body and spirit is an important part of my life. While doing many forms of physical fitness over the years, I contribute my overall health, strength, flexibility and fitness results to Pilates. It’s that difference that drew me to my certification as an instructor. I am extremely excited to be with the amazing team of Boston Body where Pilates is my full time second career. It gives me great pleasure in guiding others to discover the benefits of Pilates and enrich their lives through movement. I hope to inspire my clients to exceed their fitness goals.
After thirty years as an executive in the corporate world I retired. Having a unique opportunity to explore my many passions, I completed the Culinary Arts Program at Boston University, where I work part time as a culinary assistant.
I am comprehensively certified by Balanced Body University, as well as certified in Spinning by Madd Dog. I have an amazing husband John who also shares my passion for living a healthy active lifestyle.
Autumn Halazon
Autumn began her career in fitness in 1999, obtaining her ACE group fitness, ACE personal training and Madd Dog spinning as well as yoga certifications. A hip injury from competing in gymnastics since a child led her to a different approach in exercise and it was then that she began studying Pilates. After a two year apprenticeship and certification she began teaching Pilates and found that it brought her a pain free living as well as rounded fitness regimen. “I have a passion for fitness and have found that Pilates is the one thing that gave me the strength, flexibility and balance in my life
to feel healthy again. I began teaching in hopes to share the same benefits that I obtained through Pilates with others and am dedicated to helping each client reach their full potential in the studio and carry those skills over to everyday activities.”
Rhonda Hollis
I first started training with Boston Body in 2001, and I was immediately attracted to the precision and flow of the exercises. I studied dance for 7 years, and while I no longer practice, I am constantly seeking that same sense of physically challenging myself while still maintaining a sense of grace throughout all of the movements. I took a few years away from Pilates and shifted focus to training for a marathon. During that time I found myself fascinated by how the body functions under that sort of pressure and how to fuel it in those circumstances. After completing the marathon, I returned to Pilates with a newfound thirst for knowledge and a desire to take my practice to the next level. Coming back to the form of exercise that I am most passionate about and being able to share the beauty of it with others keeps me incredibly energized and feeling healthier and happier than ever.
Lauren Kohl
Growing up I was always active and loved movement but was constantly getting hurt. It was not until I discovered Pilates that I learned how to listen to my body and connect to specific body parts. My first Pilates class was at Boston Body and I immediately fell in love. Not only was I learning about my body but I was feeling muscles in a way I had never felt before. Within the first few sessions I could feel my core and my body felt stronger and balanced. I am passionate about continually learning more and more about the Pilates method and finding ways to alleviate chronic pain and misalignments.
I hold my Comprehensive Certification from Balanced Body University and my Masters in Elementary Education. When not working I am planning my wedding and always looking for advice on that!
Dawn Snow
My Pilates experience started with my first Reformer session, I instantly fell in love with the Method and my passion for Pilates took me in a new direction. It was amazing that in just one session I could feel muscles I had never felt with everything else I had tried. Starting off with just a couple sessions a week I was seeing results like never before. I was getting stronger, more toned, and much more flexible! Pilates also strengthened my mind body connection, demanding that I pay attention and control my movements rather than mimic, thus producing the results I was seeing!
While living in Atlanta GA in 2005 I earned my Comprehensive Pilates Certification from Power Pilates. I have also continued my Pilates education with Balanced Body Univeristy courses at Boston Body Pilates. This really enhanced my own practice as well as my knowledge of the Method. Pilates can be beneficial to people of all ages and fitness levels, as well as for rehabilitation of those suffering from chronic pain. My passion for Pilates continues to grow when I see the quality it brings to my clients life!
Dawn holds a BS in Child Development and Elementary Education.
Arnold Lee
Arnold is a 20+ year veteran of the martial arts, teaching, competing and appearing in several martial arts instructional videos. A car accident left him with serious neck injury forcing him to withdraw from competition. “I started physical therapy and private Pilates sessions two times a week”. Thanks to Pilates not only did Arnold make a full return to competition and training he found a new career. “I couldn’t wait to share this thing I’d found called Pilates with my students. The precise, controlled movements and whole body focus are a perfect complement to the martial arts and movement in general”.
Arnold has been teaching Pilates professionally full-time for 10 years. Trained in Stott Pilates and certified by Balanced Body University, he has extensive experience with injuries, sports rehab and pre-natal protocols. Arnold has trained amateur and professional athletes and is currently helping to mentor the next generation of Pilates instructors. In addition to his studio work in New England, Arnold teaches Pilates and movement/posture seminars nationwide.
Arnold holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Caitlin Melnick
Teaching and practicing Pilates brings amazing balance and a sense of calmness to my often frantic life. I have been involved in sports throughout my life, from dancing to softball to crew, all of which brought me excitement and thrill. Pilates provides me with the excitement, but also incorporates the sense of calm.
As a coxswain on my college women’s crew team, I was the leader in the boat, not only there to direct and correct movements, but to inspire, motivate and encourage. Teaching Pilates allows me to continue motivating people. I love helping people feel the mind-body connection of each Pilates movement. It gives me great pleasure to help a client discover their body’s potential.
I hold my Comprehensive Certification from Balanced Body University.
I received my BA in Communication from Marist College, and currently work at 360 Public Relations, a Boston-based public relations agency.
Matt Morin
I’m a Certified Personal Trainer and Kinesis Instructor. I started with Pilates when I turned 40 – before that I had tried every crazy fitness trend and weight-loss scheme to try to keep fit. Nothing worked. I was gaining weight and feeling tense, tight, and out of focus. Pilates completely changed my body and my approach to exercise! I lost weight and have kept it off. I’m stronger yet less bulky, and for the first time in my adult life, my body feels “right.” I knew I had to devote my career to sharing this with people. I’ve had clients that have had similar results – sustained weight loss and improved well-being – and continue to work with me and improve. Why Pilates? Two words – It Works!
I currently teach full-time at the Spa at the Mandarin Oriental in Boston, where we have a small Pilates studio with a Reformer. I also teach a Yogalates class at the Boston YMCA, and volunteer teaching Yogalates at the AIDS Action Coalition, a non-profit serving people living with HIV. I teach a Thursday night Reformer class and do private sessions at the Boston Body Back Bay location.
Cheryl
Pilates has been a major part of my personal fitness regimen for more than 10 years. My posture improved immediately and with each session I felt more energized. I continue to realize the benefits from Pilates with increased flexibility, strength and overall muscle tone.
As a Pilates instructor for over six years, I have seen individuals of all ages with various fitness goals and/or challenges benefit from practicing Pilates.
Cheryl holds two certifications in the Pilates method: from Stott and from Balanced Body University
Continuing education: multiple Pilates workshops including Pilates on Tour
Ann Peters
Introduced to Pilates in 2004, it was love at first lunge! I had been weight training for years and starting to feel stiff after working out. Then, after my first set of lunges on a Reformer, I understood how the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz felt after he got a bit of oil injected into his joints. So, after 20 years in financial services, much of it hunched in front of a computer, I decided to switch careers and share my love of Pilates. My goal is to help others experience the benefits of Pilates – increased core strength and flexibility, improved posture, and an overall sense of well-being.
I have a comprehensive Pilates certification from Balanced Body University and am a Pink Ribbon Program™ certified Breast Cancer Post-Rehab Exercise Specialist.
My educational background includes a BS in Financial Management, a MS in Leadership and Organizational Change, and a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching.
Margaux Stocker
I started doing Pilates several years ago, and it quickly became the best part of my week. I went through the Balanced Body Certification program and I absolutely love to teach! I really enjoy both teaching and participating in a wide variety of workouts, ranging from slow, controlled, and precise to fast paced and calorie burning. Having dealt with a number of my own body imbalances, I can speak first-hand about the value of the Pilates method in strengthening and correcting muscle imbalances.
Originally from CT, I have been living in Boston for 9 years. I went to Boston University undergrad, where I majored in Philosophy and minored in Studio Art. I am now pursuing a degree in Fashion Design at Mass Art. When I am not teaching Pilates, I can be found cooking and hanging out with my boyfriend and our Labradoodle, Macaroon.
Margaux is certified by Balanced Body University.
Anna Taylor
I began practicing Pilates in 2000 in Boston and came to Boston Body in 2008. At Boston Body, I found amazing instructors who challenged me to lengthen and strengthen my body, in a comfortable non-competitive atmosphere. After a career change, I decided to become an instructor and share my love of Pilates with others! I completed the Balanced Body University Comprehensive Program and enjoy teaching early mornings at the Back Bay studio. Originally from Rhode Island, I have been living in Boston area for 12 years. I went to the University of Massachusetts where I majored in Psychology and Sociology, with a concentration in Spanish. I live with my husband, and cats, on the North Shore.
