Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What do I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in and that are not overly baggy. We need to be able to correct your form to make sure you are executing each exercise safely and properly. Also, we require socks to be worn in all of our classes for hygienic purposes. We carry affordable workout wear and specialized non-slip socks at each of our studios. Toe Socks are therapeutic for your feet and the perfect choice for Yoga and Pilates classes!

Which type of session should I start with? Should I start with a Private Lesson or a Group Class?
Private lessons provide the ultimate motivation and personal attention for your first workout. Our trainers actually make you want to get in great shape and are focused on every moment of your workout! You will feel like a celebrity getting all this personal attention! Your Private lesson is also a prerequisite for any of our Pilates Equipment classes.

For exceptional affordability and convenience, you can also choose to start with any of our Group Mat, Yoga, Sculpt and Spin classes! Just choose any “All Levels” class to get started!

We offer complimentary Pilates Equipment and Pilates Mat Demo classes several times a month. These 30 minute Demo classes are a great introduction to the Pilates Method and/or Equipment. Equipment Demo classes can serve as a prerequisite for any Pilates Equipment classes that you may take in the future.

I have injuries/chronic pain. Are Pilates and Yoga safe for me?
Yes! Boston Body Pilates specializes in helping those with physical issues and limitations. We have tons of clients just like you who come in with injuries and/or chronic pain in their necks, shoulders, backs, hips, knees, feet, etc. After only a few sessions, they can really feel an improvement in their well being! Each of our trainers is specially trained to work with you and will help you modify each exercise. We prefer that you start with a private lesson if you have any injuries or chronic pain. This is for your own comfort and safety.

I haven’t worked out in years. Do you have classes that will be suitable for me?
Boston Body offers both Pilates “Principles” and “All Levels” classes that are safe for beginners and clients that haven’t worked out in years…or ever! Each instructor gives personal attention to all clients so that you get the workout intensity that is right for you. You will work out alongside others that started off just like you. Seeing how fit they are now will be your motivation to keep coming! Our clients love to share their stories with newcomers so you will feel at home immediately. Starting with a Private lesson is a great option if you haven’t worked out in years, that way your trainer can assess your fitness level and recommend specific classes.

Do you offer Pre/Post – Natal Pilates classes? Can I workout when I am pregnant?

Your doctor must first give you clearance to exercise during your pregnancy. During the first four months very few modifications are needed (per your doctor) and Group Classes are an appropriate option. However, you must let us know that you are pregnant before attending any Boston Body workout.

If you are at least four months pregnant, our Program Director Zayna Gold has designed a safe Pre and Post Natal Pilates program for all levels. If your doctor has given you permission to exercise with us, we will help you stay strong and comfortable through your pregnancy and beyond. If you are new to Boston Body and at least four months pregnant you will begin with a specialized Pre-Natal Private lesson. Your trainer will help to design the right Pilates program for you during this special time.

What types of Yoga classes do you offer?

Boston Body specializes in Yoga Classes for every fitness level. Boston Body Yoga classes feature a Vinyasa Flow that focuses equally on stretching and building strength.

I hate Spinning! How are Boston Body’s Spinning classes different from those at my gym?

Boston Body is proud to introduce our Spinning Program geared towards those who “hate to Spin!” Most gyms and Spinning studios offer classes that are so strenuous and crowded that you feel miserable as you watch the clock counting the minutes. Our Spin classes are designed like our other classes: maximum results with minimum torture! You will torch hundreds of calories during each 50 minute session. Each Spin experience ends with a 5 minute “stretch and recharge” period that will leave you feeling wonderful and eager to return. We guarantee if you try our spinning classes you will love them! Plus, it’s a great way to get your cardio in! Spin Classes are limited to 10 participants.

What is the difference between Pilates Equipment and Mat Classes?
Both types of classes are fantastic for toning, sculpting and stretching your body! We recommend that you try out both and mix and match them for the best overall results! Our state of the art Pilates Equipment uses spring resistance that give you better results than a weight training workout. You will sculpt problem areas and also develop lean and elongated muscles. All of our Pilates classes help prevent osteoporosis. Each workout on the Mat or Equipment provides accelerated toning and sculpting results and will give you a strength-training based workout. In a Pilates Mat/Sculpt class, you are using your own body weight as resistance; therefore, we don’t recommend these classes to individuals with injuries or those who are extremely out of shape.
